That Spark
On a forum, someone was asking about getting that spark, that feeling to create. It really made me think. I've had that problem. The first thing to watch out for is over-grandizing the creative process. It feels good to create, but don't turn it into something mythical. Then it becomes something unattainable. The key is, you have the ability to feel that spark. Just open yourself to it. The way you do that is by digging deeper. You keep trying and trying to get something better than ordinary and sometimes if you keep trying you finally get there. I've noticed with athletes (of which I am far from, but have learned a lot from them) that good athletes feel like crap and feel horrible when they are really achieving something. Everything inside tells them to stop. They just know that if they keep trying, they might be able to do it. If you keep trying and trying, it comes, but don't look for a "spark" just try to create something better. Just do a little better than you have. The most difficult goal is something not really defined. Also, have some fun at it. Think "if this isn't going to be an amazing shot, we're going to at least have some fun at it"
