The Moonlit Road

I've been spending the past week not getting much sleep.  Waking up between 2 to 3am. Now I'm back to the old schedule and I'm still awake at 3:30am. Isn't night time interesting.  It's like the day washes away and it's a new world.  No expectations.  You can't do anything about anything at 3:30 in the morning, so all the fears and thoughts of looking for work or trying to finish something - it all just goes away. Late night / early morning is a recess from the world.  The time when the world can't and doesn't dare demand anything from me.  I wish I could keep a little of what I feel and take it to the next day.  Take this feeling of freedom when time stands still and I have the world to myself.  But it seems like it just fades in daylight, but each night I try. I try to bring it with me.  Maybe just going about it in a different way is the answer.  There is no short road.

Enough of my ramblings, good night.

That Spark

On a forum, someone was asking about getting that spark, that feeling to create. It really made me think. I've had that problem. The first thing to watch out for is over-grandizing the creative process. It feels good to create, but don't turn it into something mythical. Then it becomes something unattainable. The key is, you have the ability to feel that spark. Just open yourself to it. The way you do that is by digging deeper. You keep trying and trying to get something better than ordinary and sometimes if you keep trying you finally get there. I've noticed with athletes (of which I am far from, but have learned a lot from them) that good athletes feel like crap and feel horrible when they are really achieving something. Everything inside tells them to stop. They just know that if they keep trying, they might be able to do it. If you keep trying and trying, it comes, but don't look for a "spark" just try to create something better. Just do a little better than you have. The most difficult goal is something not really defined. Also, have some fun at it. Think "if this isn't going to be an amazing shot, we're going to at least have some fun at it"

Rope Corset

I just tried tying my very first rope corset. I would like to thank twistedmonk.com for the amazing and easy to follow video they posted on youtube. It made my job a lot easier. I decided to practice on Mikaela. We've shot together a dozen times, she's amazing to work with.

Danielle

I shot Danielle today. It went pretty well. Was going for a Seventh Seal kind of feel to the shots. Of course, after days of pouring gloomy weather I get bright sunny weather which really sucks for moody shots. But, I was able to process them enough to make it look bleak. There are some movies that are visually amazing, but the story sucks. Ingmar Bergman films are like that. I get bored to tears by the story, but it's graphically amazing.

Frost/Nixon

I saw the movie. It was very good. Both actors were amazing. I've gone through a few government classes and history classes and I don't remember anything about the interview. It makes me worried about cover ups. In this day and age you can't cover up anything, but you can easily make people not care enough to bother.

Here is a link to an excerpt of the actual interview:
